FAQ

To ensure the best experience for all guests, our staff needs sufficient time to prepare lodgings for your arrival. Please plan to arrive no earlier than 6 PM on your scheduled arrival date. Check-in takes place at the manager's cabin.

Yes. All guests must sign a waiver due to liability requirements. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 833-395-9599.

You can download the waiver above in our documents section or email us at info@wilderness.com to request a copy. Print, complete, and bring the waiver to check-in. If needed, the manager can provide one upon arrival.

No, minors can be listed on the rental agreement. However, we recommend obtaining a temporary power of attorney for any unrelated minors in case of a medical emergency.

No, tents and campers are not permitted for additional guests. All guests must stay in the reserved cabins or lodges.

This fee helps manage hunter numbers and supports our Quality Deer Management program.

Yes. The fee allows you to hunt at the ranch for a buck and/or doe, depending on management goals.

Your hunting access fee is valid for the entire season, from bow hunting through the end of the year, until you harvest a deer. Lodging costs are separate. If you wish to continue hunting after harvesting a deer, you must obtain permission from the manager and pay a second hunting access fee.

Email us at info@wilderness.com to receive the necessary hunting information and packets.

The committee meets annually on November 14th at 1:00 PM in Liberty Hall. All Wilderness Ranch hunters are welcome to observe - please contact Tom Proctor at 248-765-1352 for details.

Yes, but consult the Manager before placing it. You must use the stand reservation system and stay near the designated wooden deer stand to avoid interfering with other hunters.

Yes, but proper field dressing and handling are essential. We are within Deer Management Unit (DMU 452), which is part of Michigan’s bTB management area. While bTB cases here are rare, we recommend free lab testing at DNR check stations. We are not near any Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) zones.

No, not during rifle season. Stalking disrupts other hunters and spreads scent, making hunting less effective. Bow hunters may "still hunt" but must stay within their designated area.

Wait at least 20 minutes before tracking. If tracking a long distance, be mindful of other hunters' areas. Ranch staff can assist if needed. Do not track beyond the property without permission from the manager, who must contact neighboring landowners first.

No. To minimize disturbances from October through December, touring is not allowed. Hunters should only use designated routes to and from blinds.

Yes, but carrying a firearm is only legal if you have a valid state hunting permit.

Yes! We follow a catch & release policy. You may keep only what you can eat in a day. Since our lakes are not stocked, overfishing will impact future availability.

Yes, but only in Lakes David and Shamrock when hunters are present. If no hunters are on the property, you may fish in any lake.

Yes, but your boat must be clean and dry to prevent introducing invasive species. Before launching, clean all surfaces—including trailers, live wells, and anchors—using hot soapy water (104°F), strong saltwater, vinegar, or cleaning solution. This precaution protects our lakes from infestations that have affected nearby waters.

Yes, but please stay on designated trails. Off-roading is only allowed when retrieving a deer or pulling off the road to let another vehicle pass. Hidden stumps, animal burrows, old fencing, and other debris make off-roading hazardous. Please respect these guidelines and avoid speeding.
